Getting my last fix before lockdown @healing_heat - . Having all our plans change and the uncertainty we are all collectively experiencing is really distressing for us. ... I think we are all feeling the emotional burnout of this year. To help take care, we can calm our physical bodies, which calms our minds. We know now through scientific research, the mind and body are directly related. Our bodies send more messages to our brains than our brains to our bodies, At approx rate of 80:20 , body:mind, which is why a bottom up approach works when dealing with matters of the mind. Healing heat would make a great Christmas gift + you will be supporting a new, local business. Check them out. #sleep #healingheat #emotionalhealth

Yoga, energetic effects and emotions. Yoga is continuous breath inspired movement. This creates a Churn in your body as my teacher Eleanor calls it. It creates heat and an energetic effect.... Different sequences of movements, moving different parts of your body creates different yoga flows. Different flows creates different energetic effects. Flows and the unique design of your body creates a special alchemy that you experience on your mat. What I mean by energetic effects is the feeling you experience post yoga Sometimes you cry, Sometimes you feel stoned, Sometimes you feel sky high. Yoga connects you to your body. Emotions are felt in your body. Emotions are not thoughts, emotions are not in the mind. We can’t think our emotions away. We can numb them/ignore them. When we do this they lie in our bodies unprocessed. Emotions are energy in motion. When you feel your body you release and transmute whatever emotions needs to be freed. I love how Brene Brown highlights we are not as we think we are: Cognitive thinking doers that on occasion feel, We are feeling beings that on occasion think. Years of scientific research and PET scans prove this. There is a deep intelligence in our emotions that are here to guide us. There is a start, middle and end to emotions. They have a cycle which need completed. Yoga helps us to complete these cycles. Our bodies know that we belong, it is our minds that make our lives so homeless John O Donohue I hope you can make some time to come home to yourself and the refuge that your body and breath can offer. This video is a wee time lapse of my practice last night. Thank you @eleanor.steane for guiding me into my body xxxx #yoga #energy #emotions #healing #movementismedicine #connectyoga
The Connect Yoga Self Care course ended yesterday with a beautiful women’s circle on the new moon in Scorpio. Magic is created when women connect that heals and transforms. Thank you so much to every woman who took part. I feel our minds open every time we listen to another’s experience and we remember our deep connection.... I felt this wee note was the right thing to share as you all start your new chapter. My teacher Emily @highvibeyoga shared it. Loads of love Carla xxxx #newbeginnings #healing #connecting #womenselfcare #move #breathe #feel #connectyoga
My shoulder is healing thank goodness. Three weeks ago I heard a huge rip that scared the bejesus out of me. It’s a bit gutting, getting injured. Getting slowed down, not being able to ... do all the things i used to. a wee reminder from the body to rest more and take care. The old me would have trained through an injury until I actually fractured a bone before I stopped. It took extreme messages from my body to make me stop. I love that Yoga offer us a practice of working with the intelligence of the body and not against it. To learn to listen to subtle messages (obvs not in this case as a rip is quite a loud message). Yes, we have the ability to ignore the body’s intelligence (and pay the bill years down the line). I struggle with the whole mind over matter culture. Just because personally for me that’s what led me to be so far removed from myself, so disconnected from my body and constantly sick. Mind over matter is needed sometimes in extreme situations for survival but not in daily normal life. It’s good to practice this skill at times and it’s also good for to practice the skill of surrendering the mind to the wisdom and intelligence of the body that knows exactly what to do to come in to balance and it’s full potential. Just like nature knows exactly what to do, so do our bodies if when we give it the attention and care it so deserves. #learningtolisten #bodykeepsthescore #movement #breathe #connect #connectyoga
2 years ago... when I was dying to try cold water swimming. I had read loads about the benefits but was too afraid of being cold as I’m an actual human lizard. I melted Holly’s head for 8 months before finally making it into the cold Irish water. I tried to bail half way through but luckily Holly managed to nurse me through my resistance until I felt the wave of peace that comes when you breathe through the discomfort. ... That was me hooked. So grateful for you Holly @thefreedommethod. #coldwaterswimming #connectyoga #scaredyba
Let go of the ways you thought life would unfold: the holding of plans or dream or expectations- Let it all go. Save your strength to swim with the tide.... The choice to fight what is here before you now will only result in struggle, fear, and desperate attempts to flee from the energy you long for. Let go. Let it all go and flow with the grace that washes through your days whether you receive it gently or with all your quills raised to defend against invaders. Take this on faith: The mind may never find the explanations that it seeks, but you will move forward nonetheless. Let go, and the wave's crest will carry you to unknown shores, beyond your wildest dreams or destinations. Let it all go and find the place of rest and peace, and certain transformation. -Let It Go by Danna Faulds A very adapt poem for 2020. Thank you so much to everyone who joined me this morning. I hope you sleep like a baby tonight. #darknessintolight #sunriseyoga #connectyoga #breathe #move #takecare #naturalhighs

The breezes at dawn have secrets to tell you. Don’t go back to sleep Rumi Cold water swimming and pink sunrises this morning, connecting me back to the magic of nature. I’m sharing a special full moon practice tomorrow @6.45am. The full moon in Taurus is at its fullness on Saturday. ... There are powerful and potent energies around full moons that women have worked with throughout history. The Gaelic word for women mná translates to moon women. By working with the moon in the traditional way our ancestors have we can connect deeper to our feminine wisdom and intuition. This blue moon is all about letting go of whatever is holding you back from you connecting to the fullness of you, your power and potential. This full moon is super powerful as it falls on Samhain (Halloween) which is the Celtic new year in the Gaelic tradition. Chain Nicholas reminds us Samhain is where we welcome the healing power of the dark and winter. Samhain is a time where we can connect to those have died and honour our grief, the reminder of the deep love that is present and eternal. Winter and darkness are transitions, it is not an ending, it is a transition period where great transformation is born out of. I will be sharing full moon rituals and questions for you to journal about after class for those joining me tomorrow. Class is recorded and you can practice at a time that works best for you. I will be sharing Samhain rituals and journal work for you to do before or after the sunrise yoga and swim on Saturday. (Which ever you prefer). I have limited access to emails and DMs during the 31 days of self care course for anything urgent please text me. Sending loads of love and big squeeze you so tight hugs x #fullmoon #fullmoontaurus #samhain #halloween #connectyoga #coldwatertherapy #selfcare
I didn’t sleep last night. I felt so uncomfortable in my own body. I went for a wee dip this morning as the oceans soothes me especially if I feel tension and tight. I feel so grateful for the ocean today. ... I find it so interesting that the ocean absorbs Co2, she takes waste from all around her. I’m doing a course with @tarajudelle and I’m learning how our cells + skin is breathing, exchanging with it’s environment, our skin is the first part of our central nervous system that takes in information. We now know our exhale releases waste on a physical, physiological and psychological level, with every cell breathing in our bodies. I’m wondering does the ocean absorb that physical, physiological and psychological waste from our bodies. It feels like it does. Thank you @thefreedommethod for teaching me how to stay in the cold Irish Sea. #coldwatertherapy #sleeplessnights #connectyoga #letitgo
